The CavinKare Group decided to venture into ‘personal styling and beauty solutions’ business. With an objective to be affordable for the common man, CavinKare entrusted responsibilities to Mr Gopalakrishnan (the current General Manager) to conduct a feasibility test for the salon.
1st salon was setup at Kilpauk, Chennai in May. It was named Greeny & was a men’s only salon.
In April, another salon was launched in T- nagar, Chennai, this time it was an ‘All Women’ salon. Same year in July, a family salon was opened at Anna Nagar.
After a feasibility test, it was discovered that a family salon concept was the way forward. This triggered the 1st organized salon concept in India, thus Green Trends came into existence. One more store was opened at Kodambakkam the same year.
This was the year of expansion. Green Trends opened 5 outlets in Chennai.
An academy to groom & train young personal styling & beauty professionals was started, it was called, Trends Academy. Green Trends further added 4 more salons to it growing list.
Green Trends Marched into Bangalore, setting up the 1st salon there at Banashankari.
Green Trends pushed the throttle on expansion, opening 9 salons across Chennai & Bangalore.
With an eye to capture South India, Green Trends opened 3 new salons across, Trichy, Coimbatore, Hydrabad, Mysore, besides their existing Chennai & Bangalore.
Green Trends added 2 more cities to its list – Tirupur & Madurai.
Green Trends made a brand revamp & a change in brand positioning. From a family salon, Green Trends became a ‘Hair & Style’ salon. With it, changed Green Trends logo. The new logo embodies youthfulness & freshness in the brand. This was the year Green Trends opened its first Franchise salon in Nolambur, Chennai.
